YARRAVILLE FESTIVAL
Late Summer is the festival season in Victoria. There are community festivals every weekend - music in the parks and rotundas, food stalls, dancing and of course storytelling. My friend Dharma and I were back at the Yarraville Festival this year singing and telling stories to small people. Its a tough gig but sharing the stage with Dharma is a joy. She sings like an angel and has a repertoire of songs that seems never ending. Dharma and her husband Chris are the driving force behind 'Everlasting Books' - a specialist children's book store 238 Somerville Road Kingsville 03 9314 6767. Dharma grew up in Readings Book Store in Carlton - the daughter of a family who loves to sell books and support authors. Everlasting Books reflects her tastes and love of fine literature. Here she is back stage searching for her mobile phone - forever multi tasking - to check on the medal tally. Her kids were competing in a major athletics carnival. And they both ended the day with gold! Next festival will be the Port Fairy Folk Festival 4 - 8 March followed by The Williamstown Festival 14 March. Looks like it will be one long party!
